Dangling Feet = Shark Food

An 18-year-old surfer was dangling his feet in 8' deep water near the New Smyrna Beach jetty when a shark swam up and bit him yesterday! They say it was a case of mistaken identity. I don't really see the resemblance between a fish and a pair of dangling legs... do you? He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

The is the second confirmed shark bite off a beach in this county on Florida's east coast in less than a month. A 15-year-old boy was bitten when he stepped on a shark Oct. 15 at the Ponce Inlet jetty.
